Rimad (“we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of all users of our announcement-making platform in Mauritania. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and your rights under Mauritanian law.

We collect and process personal data to operate Rimad, which enables users to post and browse announcements (for example, sale or rental of houses, land, or cars; offers of electronics; job postings). We adhere to the principles set out in Law No. 2017-020 on the protection of personal data (adopted June 22, 2017) and follow best-practice data-protection standards. The Mauritanian data-protection authority is the Autorité de Protection des Données à Caractère Personnel (APDP).

- Registration & Profile Data: first name, last name, age, gender, phone number, email address, and profile photo (optional).
- Announcement Data: details you submit for each listing (e.g., property address, description, price).
- Payment & Billing Data: only if you choose to sponsor your announcement.
- Usage & Technical Data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps, and crash logs.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Provision of Service: to create and display your announcements and facilitate messaging between buyers/renters and sellers/landlords.
- Improvement & Personalization: to analyze trends, personalize the listings you see, and enhance our features.
- Communications: to send you service-related emails (e.g., confirmations, notifications, policy updates).
- Security & Integrity: to detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect user data.
- Legal Compliance: to comply with legal obligations (e.g., court orders) or to protect our legal rights.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
- Contractual Necessity: processing required to perform under our Terms of Service.
- Consent: for optional features such as marketing emails or SMS (withdrawable at any time).
- Legitimate Interests: to operate, improve, and secure our platform, provided these interests do not override your rights.
- Legal Obligation: to comply with Mauritanian law or respond to lawful requests by public authorities.
5. Sharing & Disclosure
- Legal Authorities: when required by law or to protect rights, property, or user safety.

9. International Transfers
Rimad stores and processes data in a cloud environment that ensures appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses) are in place for any cross-border transfers.
10. Children’s Data
Rimad is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover that we have inadvertently done so, we will delete that data promptly.
11. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post any revisions here and update the “Effective Date” above.
